SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

s18-dc-sst continuous motion shrink wrapper

ARPAC’s Extreme Series continuous motion shrink wrappers excel in a wide variety of applications. The Extreme line of shrink wrappers is designed to increase productivity, reduce wear and tear on parts, and eliminate the waste of time and energy by using a continuous motion design with smooth, fast, and unbroken flow. With its superior design, the Extreme Series is more reliable, requires less maintenance, uses less film and energy, and provides superior film tension for a better more consistent package. Additionally, the Extreme Series continuous motion wrappers will typically require 2-4” less film width than automatic L-Sealers, intermittent motion wrappers, or any wrapper where the film path runs under the infeed conveyor. For example, on a 12” long product ARPAC’s Extreme series could save between 32 and 64 square inches of film per product.

Product is hand loaded onto the dual chain infeed conveyor. The 9’ long dual chain infeed has wide, flat pushers that provide a square surface to advance products into the film. This length allows ample space for product loading. Wide pushers provide more product control and are capable of pushing twin packs and stacked products. Once loaded, the product is advanced into the film web where film is cut and sealed by the cross seal. A light curtain at the cross seal instead of a photoeye allows for better product detection leading to lower bag sizes and less film per package. The product is conveyed into the shrink tunnel where hot air is circulated creating a tight, finished package.

Patented ZEROEdge™ Sealer

eliminates film waste

Zero is the only edge sealer on the market that eliminates film waste. Zero consumes the lowest amount of shrink film compared to any side sealer on the market. Zero is a radical shift in design, combining the versatility of a side sealer with the zero film waste of a lap sealer. This project requires a Top Mounted Zero Edge Sealer that eliminates film scap wind systems found on all other Horizontal Wrappers minimizing film widths for wrapping and NO scrap removal or waste to discard.

The Zero Edge Sealer has many benefits over existing longitudinal film sealing technologies.

1. Requires less film than competitive sealing systems.

2. Has Zero waste, which means the end user does not have to deal with disposal of a difficult to recycle product.

3. No disposal of waste product means better for the environment than traditional side seal mechanisms.

4. Less downtime due to film changeovers. The operator only has to slip the film into the drive wheels and run, oppose to the traditional side sealer where the windup wheel and dancer system need to be manually threaded.

5. Less machine components because there is no need for a windup and dancer mechanism.

GAME CHANGING DESIGN

The resulting savings means lower packaging costs and a simpler, more operation friendly shrink wrapper with less maintenance. The last real innovation in sealing technology was more than 35 years ago. Since then there have been improvements but no real transformation in the basic design. BUT everything changes NOW. Zero is a radical shift in design, combining the versatility of a side sealer with zero film waste of a lap sealer. In many applications, Zero can consume less film than a lap sealer.

- The Extreme Next Generation Side Sealer was developed to address the deficiencies found in the side sealers that are presently offered in the market. The main goal is to eliminate all guesswork associated with producing strong reliable seals on a consistent basis. This requires a design that can be turned on Monday morning that can still be running the next Monday morning without interruption or adjustment. The new “Extreme Next Gen Side Sealer” has met and exceeds that goal.

- Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PAC is State of the Art motion control for machine operation. Includes Ethernet communication between the servo drives and controller for noise/interference elimination, and comes with 16 spare inputs and 6 spare outputs standard.

- PanelView 700 Color Touch Screen on Swivel includes Operator interface, Machine set-up instructions Diagnostics and on screen instructions. Has product recipe storage for 100 set ups.

- Step By Step Programming – The operator inputs product dimensions. All electronic functions are automatically set for that product. The touch screen provides step by step instruction to assist novice and expert operators on new product set up.

- Dual Servo-Axis Cross seal horizontal and vertical motion via Allen-Bradley Kinetix 350 Drives with Integrated Safe Off.

- 1 HP AC Vector Drives for product carrying belts and infeed conveyors provide lower maintenance, smooth, quiet, and reliable operation throughout speed range. These drives can be replaced with optional servo drives.

- Vector Drive Side Seal and Cross Seal Belts provide independent electronic control of belt speeds to relieve film tension between products for stronger seals. Easily adjusted and stored via the Color Touch Screen. Includes integrated Safe Off function.

- Vector Drive Infeed provides electronic adjustment for infeed speeds.

- Direct Drive traveling belt, side seal belt, film unwind and selvage winder. This eliminates chains, sprockets, tensioning devices or need for lubrication at these points, providing the user with a lower maintenance machine.

- Programmable Orbit permits optimum cross seal motion for a variety of package heights and production speeds. Adjustable Dwell up to 35% of cycle provides strong seals at high speeds.

- Smooth Continuous Motion Cross Seal System moves with the product during the sealing process. This provides for longer dwell times that result in stronger seals and fewer rejects. The continuous motion process also puts less stress on machinery components than the stopping and starting of intermittent motion system.

- Seal bars have Multi-zone heater design providing uniform temperature across the entire seal bar. The system requires lower temperatures and less dwell time. The results are higher machine speeds, cleaner seals and better looking finished products. Seal bars are capable of running polyolefin, polyethylene and PVC films.

- Efficient film usage is due to the direct film delivery path and side seal design. The film path goes directly to inverter blades and does not pass under the infeed conveyor belt frame as found on many wrappers. Typical savings is 2-4” of film width times the length of the package.

- Powered pinwheel perforator both pinwheel and back-up brush are driven at film speed to provide positive perforating without tearing

- Adjustable film inverter has location scales for quick package height and width changes without tools. Single wound film only.

- Dancer Bar Controlled Selvage Winder automatically winds and controls film trim tension so that minimal waste is produced. Includes trim break sensor with machine stop.

- Infeed Product Detect Sensor controls product phasing and stop/function of wrapper to avoid running empty bags

- Product carrying belts are spliced for easy removal and replacement.

- Cross Seal rides on (4) 1” diameter linear bearing shafts for extra stability and longevity at high speeds.
