Functioning
After isolating the microorganisms, the manipulation comes down to a simple step of standardizing the inoculum. The inoculum* is placed in the VITEK® 2 cassette of the Smart Carrier Station™ in which the VITEK® 2 card and the sample are virtually linked. Once the cassette is loaded, the system manages the incubation and reading of each card without any further intervention.

To help clinicians choose the most appropriate antibiotic therapy, the Advanced Expert System™ automatically validates all test results. It indicates when the results are ready, which saves time and obtains the phenotype of the precise bacterial resistance mechanisms for each isolate tested, in particular thanks to color indicators which facilitate the reading of the antibiogram.
To meet the ever-changing needs of bacteriology worldwide, VITEK® 2 software updates are regularly performed via VILINK™.
