Mobile Yard Ramp
Yard ramp, also called mobile yard ramp or container ramp, is a movable metal ramp for loading and unloading of shipping containers and vehicle trailers, without the need for permanent docking bays. A yard ramp is placed at the back of a vehicle to provide access for forklifts to ascend the ramp, quickly and safely into the container or truck body.
Mobile loading ramp is used for almost all types of transport - from light commercial vehicles to trucks and wagons. Containers, trucks and trailers are typically loaded / unloaded from the rear by reversing the vehicle up against a raised concrete loading bay, the cargo is then moved using counterbalanced forklift trucks. The loading bay is designed to be at approximately the height of the vehicle with a leveling device to accommodate any height differences. There are however many situations where it is not possible to utilize a permanent loading bay.
