Description
Introduction:
When an attenuator is used in conjunction with a network analyzer, there are two common uses: 1. Attenuate the source signal of an oscillator. Although it may seem strange, one of the most common mistakes in frequency domain measurements is to use a source signal with an amplitude that is too large.
When an attenuator is used in conjunction with a network analyzer, there are two common uses: 1. Attenuate the source signal of an oscillator. Although it may seem strange, one of the most common mistakes in frequency domain measurements is to use a source signal with an amplitude that is too large. Even if the network analyzer allows the signal output amplitude to be set, the lowest setting is usually too high for accurate small signal measurements; the correct amplitude is the minimum amplitude that exceeds the noise floor. 2. Attenuators help increase the dynamic range of measurements. In some cases, such as when measuring the open-loop gain of an amplifier, the low-frequency loop gain will be very large (100dB or more). Attenuating the output signal increases the effective range of the measurement.
Main Features:
• All-in-one unit includes 40dB, 20dB, and 10dB ports
• Cascadable for greater attenuation
• Improved noise floor to ensure small signal measurements
