Shrink tunnels are conveyorized heat chambers that shrink film around pre-wrapped products to produce tight, tamper‑resistant packaging. Items pass through on a belt while heated air or infrared elements shrink the film for a neat, stable bundle. Widely used in food, beverage, and industrial packaging, tunnels vary by tunnel length, belt type, heat control and throughput to match product size and production speed.
Inspect belt condition, heater elements, fans, temperature controls (PID), insulation, conveyor drive and wiring. Ask for run-time tests, maintenance records, and photos of wear areas. Verify film compatibility and available spare parts.
Match tunnel width and conveyor height to your largest product, and choose tunnel length and heat capacity for the film type and required dwell time. Base capacity on packages per minute and planned production growth.
