Meat & poultry processing conveyors are specialized systems that move carcasses, cuts, trays or packaged products hygienically through slaughter, inspection and packing lines. Built with food-grade materials, washdown-capable drives and easy-to-clean belts or chains, they support strict sanitation and throughput needs. Configurations include overhead, floor and modular belt conveyors sized for integration with evisceration, chilling, sorting and automation equipment while prioritizing worker safety and regulatory compliance.
Inspect stainless-steel condition, weld quality, belt/chain wear, motor and gearbox condition, and evidence of regular washdown. Ask for maintenance records, verify IP rating for washdown, and confirm dimensions, throughput and integration points for your line.
Look for 304/316 stainless construction, rounded welds, hygienic bearings, IP69K or equivalent washdown-rated motors, and supplier documentation for cleaning procedures and material certificates. Validate HACCP or customer audit requirements before purchase.
Thoroughly clean and drain the machine, remove and secure loose parts, document weight/dimensions, and protect delicate components. Use a transporter experienced with food equipment; crate sensitive controls and seal exposed openings to prevent contamination during transit.
Plan for floor anchoring, electrical supply and controls, belt alignment and tensioning, and mechanical interfaces to existing equipment. Expect on-site adjustments, programming of PLCs or sensors, and commissioning checks for safety guards and sanitary drains.
Perform daily washdowns per procedure, inspect and replace belts or chains as needed, lubricate hygienic bearings, check motor seals, and keep a stock of fast-moving spare parts. Follow manufacturer maintenance intervals and record all cleaning and service actions.
