Screening buckets are attachments that replace a loader's standard bucket to separate soil, aggregates, and demolition material into different sizes on-site. They bolt onto excavators, skid steers or crawler loaders and use rotating shafts or vibrating screens to sift material, saving time and hauling costs. Ideal for recycling, landscaping, and utility work, screening buckets come in various sizes and mesh options to match material type and machine hydraulic flow.
Inspect the screen panels, welds, frame and mounting points for cracks or distortion. Check the rotor/shaft, gearbox or hydraulic motor for leaks and play. Verify wear parts (blades, teeth, screens) and availability of spares, and ask for maintenance records and serial numbers.
Match the mounting bracket or adapter pin dimensions and the bucket weight to your loader’s linkage and lift capacity. Confirm hydraulic flow and pressure requirements for the bucket's motor, and check whether you need flow dividers, relief valves, or quick couplers.
Transport on a flatbed or lowboy with the rotor secured and openings blocked to prevent debris loss. Use chocks and rated tie-downs, protect hydraulic ports, and consider crating or skids for long hauls. Insure high-value units and follow local oversize regulations if needed.
Daily: clear debris, inspect screens and cutting edges, check hydraulic hoses and fittings. Weekly/monthly: grease bearings, check gearboxes/hydraulic motors for oil level and leaks, and tighten fasteners. Replace worn panels or blades promptly to avoid frame damage.
