Fermenters (bioreactors) are vessels engineered to grow microorganisms or cells under controlled conditions for fermentation, bioprocessing, or scale-up work. They range from lab-scale stirred tanks to large jacketed stainless-steel production units and include agitation, temperature control, pH and dissolved-oxygen monitoring, sterile ports, and CIP/SIP capability. Key buyer concerns are material (SS316L), working volume, control systems, pressure rating, and validation/certification for your process.
Check material (SS316L), working and maximum volume, jacket/heat-exchanger condition, seals and impellers, control system and software, sensor condition (pH, DO, temp), maintenance records, evidence of sterile operation, and compliance certificates (ASME, PED).
Drain and thoroughly decontaminate/CIP the vessel, disconnect and pack electronics and probes separately, secure internal parts, protect ports and glassware, crate on a rigid skid, use a transporter experienced with process equipment, and include decontamination and export paperwork.
Regularly clean/CIP and perform periodic SIP validation, calibrate probes, inspect and replace seals and bearings, check agitator alignment and motor, test jacket and valves for leaks, and keep maintenance and validation logs.
