Check service records, operating hours, oil analysis, valve plate condition, leakage and wear on cylinders and pistons, motor integrity, and whether it runs under load. Verify refrigerant compatibility and any required retrofits.

Drain oil and refrigerant per regulations, secure moving parts, protect suction/discharge ports, bracket the unit to a crate or skid, note weight and center of gravity, and arrange carriers familiar with heavy refrigeration equipment and hazmat rules.

Perform regular oil and filter changes, vibration and bearing checks, valve plate inspections, periodic ring and cylinder wear measurements, cooling-system cleaning, and follow manufacturer intervals for overhaul and leak testing.
